Caravan Insurance Repair Specialist
Expert Insurance Repairs for Caravans
RnR Refinish provides specialist caravan insurance repairs from our purpose-built repair centre in Clontarf, Brisbane. We assess the damage, prepare a detailed repair quotation and work with your insurer or appointed assessor throughout the approval and repair process.
Our team repairs caravans affected by reversing accidents, collisions, hail, storms, water ingress, theft, attempted theft and other insured events. Depending on the damage, the work may involve fibreglass reconstruction, composite panel repairs, aluminium cladding replacement, frame repairs, floor rebuilding, component replacement, spray painting and complete refinishing.
With more than 15 years of insurance repair experience, RnR Refinish understands the technical work required in the workshop and the information insurers need to review a claim. You have one repair centre managing the repair from assessment through to final quality checks and handover.
Specialist Repairs for Modern Caravans
This combination of materials makes the assessment especially important.
A cracked fibreglass corner may also have damaged its mounting points or the frame behind it. A dented aluminium sheet may conceal movement around a window, seal or body join. Water entering through a damaged roof fitting can spread into framing, insulation, cabinetry or flooring before the full extent becomes visible.
RnR Refinish assesses the affected section in the context of the complete caravan. The aim is not simply to improve the appearance of the damaged area. It is to identify what has been affected, determine the right repair method and provide the insurer with a clear scope of work.
Our workshop can manage both the visible repairs and the related work that may be required behind the panels. This can include dismantling, framing, fabrication, fibreglass, cladding, cabinetry, electrical work, plumbing, floor repairs, spray painting and reassembly.
Where manufacturer repair information is available, it is considered when planning the repair. The final method must also reflect the caravan’s construction, the extent of the damage and the work authorised by the insurer.

Industry-leading expertise, operational
and workplace metrics
Great repairs are built on more than experience, they’re backed by consistent results. We continually monitor our repair performance to improve customer communication, reduce repair times and deliver a better overall experience.
We Manage the Repair Side of Your Insurance Claim
The damage needs to be recorded, the repair method explained, parts identified and a detailed quotation prepared for the insurer or appointed assessor. If the original assessment does not clearly explain the full scope, the approval process may be delayed or important work may be missed.
RnR Refinish manages this repair process with you.
We inspect the caravan, document the affected areas and prepare the repair estimate with supporting photographs and information. Where required, the insurer’s assessor can inspect the caravan at our Clontarf facility and discuss the proposed repair method with our estimating team.
Once the insurer provides authority, we confirm the approved scope, arrange the required parts and materials and schedule the work.
Some damage can only be identified after cladding, fibreglass mouldings, flooring, cabinets or fittings have been removed. Where further incident-related damage is found, it is photographed and referred to the insurer before additional work outside the approved scope proceeds.
Your insurer remains responsible for deciding what your policy covers, approving the claim and advising you about any excess. RnR Refinish is responsible for assessing the repair, completing the authorised work and managing the caravan through the workshop, testing and quality-control stages.
How the Insurance Repair Process Works
Lodge Your Claim and Contact RnR Refinish
Report the incident to your insurance company and request a claim number. Your insurer may ask for your policy details, photographs, the date and cause of the damage and the current location of the caravan.
Ask whether your policy allows you to nominate a repairer and tell the insurer that you would like RnR Refinish to assess the damage.
You can then contact our team by phone or through the online enquiry form. We can provide a link for uploading photographs and caravan details directly to our estimating system.
Tell us whether the caravan can be safely towed, where it is located and whether upcoming travel plans or rental bookings are affected. Photographs help with the first review, but a physical inspection is usually needed where framing, flooring, water damage or internal components may be involved.
Caravan Assessment and Repair Quotation
When the caravan arrives, we complete a documented check-in and record its general condition. This helps separate existing marks or unrelated faults from the damage connected to the insured event.
The assessment may include exterior and interior photographs, moisture readings, leak detection, lighting checks, structural observations, identification of damaged materials and research into parts availability.
Our estimator then prepares the repair quotation and supporting information for the insurer.
The quotation explains the affected areas, the proposed repair method and the parts, materials and specialist trades likely to be required. Where the full extent cannot be confirmed without dismantling, this is noted for the insurer.
Insurer Review, Authority and Repair Planning
The insurer may approve the quotation, request further information, appoint an assessor or arrange an inspection at our repair centre.
Once repair authority is received, we review the approved scope and confirm the parts and materials needed. Where possible, important components are ordered and checked before the main repair begins.
This planning stage helps reduce avoidable delays once the caravan has been dismantled.
The estimator and repair technicians also review the work together so that the information gathered during assessment carries through to the workshop.
Repairs, Quality Checks and Handover
The caravan then moves through the required repair stages. These may include dismantling, frame repairs, fabrication, fibreglass reconstruction, cladding or composite panel work, floor repairs, paint preparation, refinishing, reassembly, detailing and decal replacement.
Customers receive updates at meaningful stages, particularly during larger or more complex repairs.
After the work has been completed, the caravan is checked against the authorised repair scope. Depending on the job, final inspections may include panel fit, paint finish, lighting, electrical components, water testing, sealing, appliance operation and general presentation.
Once the repair has passed these checks, collection or eligible return delivery can be arranged.

Our Specialities
Caravan Accident and Smash Damage
The force may travel through adjoining panels, internal framing, windows, doors, cabinetry and mounting points. What appears to be a localised body repair may require surrounding sections to be removed so the internal structure can be inspected.
A rear corner impact, for example, may involve fibreglass mouldings, tail-light panels, bumper sections, framing, cabinetry and external fittings. A sideswipe may damage several sheets of aluminium cladding, windows, seals and the frame behind them.
The repair may require dismantling, alignment, fabrication, panel replacement, fibreglass reconstruction, spray painting and reassembly.
The finished appearance is only one part of the outcome. Panel alignment, structural mounting points, seals and affected components also need to be checked before the caravan is returned.
Fibreglass and Gelcoat Insurance Repairs
An impact can cause surface cracking, deeper splits, holes, distortion or complete separation from the surrounding structure. The visible crack may also extend further beneath the surface than it first appears.
RnR Refinish repairs and reconstructs damaged fibreglass using methods suited to the affected component. The area is prepared, rebuilt and reshaped before being refinished to suit the surrounding bodywork.
Where gelcoat has also been damaged, its condition must be assessed before the final repair method is selected. Fading, oxidation, crazing and previous coating failure can affect whether the area is restored, sectionally refinished or repainted.
Our fibreglass capability is also useful where moulded components are difficult to replace. Selected parts may be repaired or reproduced rather than waiting for an unavailable factory item.
Composite Panel Repairs
Damage to the outside surface can also weaken the internal bond or core. A panel may appear mostly intact while still having damage beneath the outer layer.
The repair method depends on the type of panel, the size and location of the damage, the condition of the internal core and whether moisture has entered the structure.
Some composite panels can be repaired locally. Others may require a section to be rebuilt or the complete panel to be replaced.
Nearby windows, doors, joins and fittings must also be considered because removing or replacing the panel can affect the surrounding structure.
Where gelcoat has also been damaged, its condition must be assessed before the final repair method is selected. Fading, oxidation, crazing and previous coating failure can affect whether the area is restored, sectionally refinished or repainted.

Aluminium Cladding and Metal Body Repairs
Damage to the outer sheet may also affect the frame, seals, trims, windows and fittings behind it.
A cladding repair can involve removing windows and exterior components, taking off the damaged sheets, inspecting and repairing the frame, matching the original profile and preparing replacement sections for paint.
The new cladding must then be sealed correctly before windows, trims, lights, graphics and other hardware are reinstalled.
Where the damage is covered by insurance, the required cladding, frame, sealing and refinishing work can be included within the insurer repair estimate.
Hail and Storm Damage
Hail may dent aluminium sheets, crack fibreglass, damage skylights, break vent covers or mark roof-mounted equipment. Strong winds and falling debris can affect awnings, windows, solar panels, air-conditioning covers and exterior fittings.
The assessment also needs to consider water entry.
A damaged skylight, vent, roof join or window seal may allow moisture into the walls, ceiling, cabinetry or floor after the storm has passed. This secondary damage may not be obvious during the first external inspection.
RnR Refinish can document the visible storm damage, check likely entry points and include the related insurer-approved repairs within the overall scope.
Water Damage and Caravan Floor Repairs
Moisture may enter through damaged roofing, windows, vents, doors, body joins, seals or external fittings. Once inside, it can affect wall panels, framing, insulation, cabinetry, flooring, underbody materials and electrical components.
A soft floor does not always mean there is an active leak. Composite caravan flooring can also soften when the internal core and outer layers lose their bond and begin to delaminate.
Common problem areas include entry doors, kitchens, ensuites and the sides of beds where foot traffic is concentrated.
The correct floor repair depends on the original construction and the extent of the damage. Options may include sectional floor replacement, a larger floor rebuild, specialist injection repair, replacement of the internal core and frame, underbody bracing or new vinyl.
RnR Refinish assesses both the source of the damage and the affected materials. Repairing the floor without addressing an active entry point could allow the problem to return.
When Replacement Parts Are No Longer Available
Fibreglass mouldings are often produced for a limited model run. Once production stops and remaining stock is sold, a replacement bumper, tail-light panel, body moulding or storage door may no longer be available locally or overseas.
This does not always mean the caravan cannot be repaired.
RnR Refinish can repair, fabricate or remould selected one-off fibreglass components. Where an undamaged matching part remains on the opposite side of the caravan, its shape and measurements may help our technicians recreate the missing section.
Individual components can also be sent to our workshop for assessment, repair and refinishing where transporting the complete caravan is unnecessary.
This capability can provide another option when the insurer or parts supplier cannot source a standard replacement.

Caravan Insurance Repair Experience in Practice
The caravan already had future bookings, so time off the road affected both the owner’s travel plans and rental income.
Our team provided a link for uploading damage photographs, explained the initial insurance steps and prepared the repair estimate. Collection was arranged, and the caravan went through a documented check-in that included photographs, lighting checks and leak detection.
Once the repair method and required parts had been discussed with the insurer, the work progressed through dismantling, body repair, paint preparation, refinishing, reassembly, detailing, water testing and decal replacement.
The owner received progress photographs and calls as the repair moved through the workshop. A video handover was completed before the caravan was returned.
In this particular case, the caravan was back on the road within three weeks of the first call.
Every claim is different. Repair time depends on insurer authority, parts availability, hidden damage and the complexity of the work.
Caravan Owners and Insurers Trust RnR Refinish
Our Clontarf facility can accommodate caravans requiring tow-in delivery, extensive dismantling, frame repairs, fibreglass work, cladding replacement, floor rebuilding, spray painting and detailed reassembly.
Complex repairs may involve estimators, fibreglass technicians, panel repairers, spray painters, fabricators, cabinet makers, auto electricians, plumbers and mechanical technicians. Bringing these capabilities together gives the team a clearer view of how each stage affects the rest of the repair.
Customers are also kept informed as larger jobs move through key stages. Final checks are selected according to the work completed rather than relying only on the appearance of the finished panel or paint.
The result is a more coordinated repair process, with clear responsibility from assessment through to handover.
