RV Fleet & Caravan Hire Repairs
Expert Insurance Repairs for Fleet Companies
RnR Refinish provides specialist repair support for RV fleet and hire companies from our purpose-built repair centre in Clontarf, Brisbane. Most of our fleet work involves motorhomes and campervans, although we also repair rental caravans and other recreational vehicles used by hire businesses.
Our team manages accident damage, overhead impacts, scraped sidewalls, reversing damage, fibreglass repairs, composite panels, structural work, spray painting and vehicle refinishing. We can coordinate insured repairs with the fleet operator, insurer and appointed assessor, or provide direct repair options where the damage is minor and an insurance claim is not required.
The goal is not simply to complete a repair quickly. It is to return the asset in a condition that supports your brand, your customers and its continued commercial use.
For fleet operators, that means working with a repair partner who understands the cost of downtime, provides useful progress updates and maintains a consistent standard across repeat jobs.
A Repair Partner Who Understands Fleet Operations
The damaged asset may already have future bookings. A replacement vehicle may not be available. Fleet staff may need to communicate with the current hirer, the next customer, an insurer and internal management while also arranging transport, assessment and repairs.
That creates a need for more than technical repair capability.
Fleet operators need a repairer who can assess the damage promptly, explain the likely process, identify parts risks and provide useful updates as the job progresses. They also need confidence that a faster turnaround will not come at the expense of body alignment, sealing, paint quality or the operation of affected components.
RnR Refinish works with fleet and hire businesses to create a clearer repair pathway from the first report through to return to service.
We understand that the person contacting us may not be the driver involved in the incident. They may be a fleet manager, branch manager, operations coordinator, claims officer or customer service team member responsible for keeping the booking schedule moving.
Our role is to make the repair side easier to manage. That includes gathering the right information, preparing the repair quotation, communicating with the insurer where a claim is being made and keeping the fleet representative informed at meaningful stages.
Over time, a strong repair partnership also creates consistency. The repairer becomes familiar with the fleet, common vehicle models, recurring damage patterns, preferred communication process and standards expected before an asset is released.

Performance Indicators
Industry-leading expertise, operational
and workplace metrics
Great repairs are built on more than experience, they’re backed by consistent results. We continually monitor our repair performance to improve customer communication, reduce repair times and deliver a better overall experience.
Most Fleet Repairs Involve Motorhomes and Campervans
These vehicles face regular use by drivers with different levels of experience. Hirers may be unfamiliar with the vehicle’s height, width, turning circle and rear overhang. This can lead to damage that is less common in standard passenger cars.
Overhead impacts are especially common. A cab may clear a tree, carport, canopy or building overhang while the upper motorhome body, Luton peak, air conditioner or awning does not.
Sidewall damage can occur when a hirer passes too close to a post, branch, fence, fuel bowser or another vehicle. Reversing accidents may affect rear fibreglass panels, bumpers, tail lights, storage compartments and nearby framing.
Motorhomes can also suffer collision damage involving the cab, body, chassis area, underbody or mechanical systems. Because the living area and driveable vehicle form one asset, the repair may require several trades working within the same approved scope.
RnR Refinish assesses the damage in the context of the full motorhome rather than treating it as a standard panel repair. The visible mark may only be one part of the job. Surrounding structure, seals, fittings, wiring, cabinetry and mounted equipment may also need inspection.
Our workshop can accommodate large motorhomes and campervans requiring dismantling, structural repairs, fibreglass reconstruction, composite work, paint refinishing, reassembly and selected mechanical attention.
Caravan Hire and Rental Fleet Repairs
Rental caravans can experience many of the same problems as privately owned caravans, but downtime has a direct commercial effect. A damaged caravan may need to be removed from the booking schedule, replaced with another asset or repaired before the next customer arrives.
Common damage includes reversing impacts, sidewall scrapes, cladding damage, cracked fibreglass corners, damaged awnings, broken windows and problems caused by incorrect setup or towing incidents.
A caravan impact may affect more than the outer panel. Internal framing, cabinetry, flooring, windows, seals and exterior fittings can also move or become damaged.
RnR Refinish can manage the body and related repair work through one coordinated process. Depending on the caravan’s construction, this may include aluminium cladding, timber or aluminium framing, fibreglass mouldings, composite panels, cabinetry, electrical work, plumbing, spray painting and decal replacement.
For hire operators with both motorhomes and caravans, using one specialist repair partner can also simplify administration and create a more consistent repair standard across the fleet.
Insurance Repairs and Direct Fleet Repairs
In these cases, RnR Refinish can assess the vehicle, prepare the repair quotation and communicate with the insurer or appointed assessor about the proposed work.
We understand that the fleet operator may also be managing a hirer’s security bond, insurance premium or applicable excess. Those commercial arrangements remain between the hire company, customer and insurer. Our focus is documenting the vehicle damage and providing a clear repair pathway.
Not every repair needs to become an insurance claim.
A fleet company may choose to pay directly for relatively minor damage where the repair cost, claim administration or potential impact on insurance arrangements makes a private repair more practical. This can include scratches, minor dents, localised fibreglass damage, bumper repairs, paintwork or small cosmetic issues found during a vehicle check-in.
Our team can help distinguish between a suitable direct repair and damage that requires a more detailed workshop assessment.
Whether the repair is insured or paid directly, the same core principles apply. The damage should be assessed properly, the repair method should suit the vehicle and the asset should be checked before it returns to commercial use.
Fleet Damage Notification
The process starts when your fleet branch notifies RnR Refinish of the damaged vehicle, its location and current status. We confirm whether the vehicle is driveable, requires towing and how urgently it needs to return to service.
Collection & Fleet Support
Where the vehicle is driveable or suitable for collection, we aim to arrange pickup the same day. Communication can be managed through your main office or directly with our dedicated fleet management team, giving your staff a clear point of contact whenever support is required.
Check-In, Assessment & Quotation
On arrival, the vehicle is checked in, photographed and fully documented before the damage assessment begins. We aim to submit fleet repair quotations within two business days, with additional assessment time allowed for heavy-impact or complex repairs.
Parts Planning Before Repairs Begin
Commonly required fleet repair parts are either kept in stock or ordered as early as possible to reduce avoidable delays. For vehicle-specific components, we confirm availability before the main repair process begins wherever possible.
Authorised Repairs & Progress Updates
Once repair authority is received, the vehicle moves through the required repair stages, with updates provided as key milestones are completed. Fleet branch managers also receive a weekly repair update covering current progress, outstanding parts, insurer decisions and any issues that may affect the expected completion date.
Quality Control & Return to Service
Completed repairs pass through our quality-control process before the vehicle is released back to the fleet. Our current fleet repair average is approximately 6.1 days key-to-key, helping operators reduce downtime while maintaining the repair standard required before the vehicle returns to hire.
Our Specialities
Overhead Damage Repairs
Drivers who are comfortable in a car may not account for the additional height of a motorhome body, roof-mounted air conditioner, awning or solar equipment.
An impact with a low branch, carport, canopy or height barrier may damage the roof, Luton peak, vents, upper sidewall or mounted equipment. It may also open seals and body joins, creating a risk of water entry after the vehicle has been returned.
The repair can involve much more than fixing the visible crack.
Fibreglass mouldings may need reconstruction. Roof panels, framing, cabinetry, wiring or equipment mounts may also need attention. Air conditioners, solar panels, awnings and vents may require removal and refitting before the body can be repaired and refinished.
RnR Refinish assesses the surrounding structure and affected components so the fleet operator has a clearer understanding of the full repair scope.
Sidewall, Reversing and Accident Damage
A hirer may misjudge the width or rear overhang of a motorhome, particularly when entering a campsite, fuel station or confined parking area. This can damage fibreglass panels, composite sidewalls, storage doors, cladding, bumpers and external fittings.
The impact may also affect windows, seals, internal framing or cabinets behind the visible damage.
Larger collisions can involve the cab, chassis area, underbody and mechanical components. These jobs may require towing, alignment, fabrication, welding, panel work, fibreglass reconstruction and selected mechanical repairs.
A fast cosmetic patch is not always suitable for a vehicle that will return to repeated commercial use. The repair needs to account for structural condition, weather sealing and the operation of any components affected by the incident.
Fibreglass and Composite Fleet Repairs
It can crack, split or tear during an impact. In more severe cases, a complete section may be missing or distorted.
RnR Refinish can repair and reconstruct damaged fibreglass before preparing and refinishing the surface. This capability is valuable for fleet vehicles because replacement components may be unavailable, particularly on imported or discontinued models.
Composite panels require a different approach. These panels often contain an exterior skin, internal core, adhesive system and inner lining. Damage to the surface may weaken the internal bond or allow moisture to enter.
Depending on the panel type and damage, the section may be repaired, rebuilt or replaced.
Our team considers the vehicle construction, nearby windows, body joins and internal fittings before recommending the repair method.
Parts Availability and One-Off Component Repairs
Fibreglass components are often produced for a limited model run. Once the model changes and remaining stock is sold, a replacement bumper, tail-light panel, moulding or Luton peak section may no longer be available.
RnR Refinish can repair, fabricate or remould selected one-off fibreglass components.
Where a matching undamaged component remains on the opposite side of the vehicle, its profile and measurements may help our technicians recreate the missing part.
Individual components can also be sent to our workshop for repair and refinishing where transporting the full vehicle is unnecessary.
This capability may reduce the need to wait for unavailable parts or remove an otherwise repairable fleet asset from service permanently.
Commercial Spray Painting and Refinishing
Paint damage, poor previous repairs and mismatched panels can reduce the presentation of the asset, even where the vehicle remains mechanically sound.
RnR Refinish provides professional spray painting and refinishing for motorhomes, campervans and caravans. Our large downdraft, humidity-controlled spray booth can accommodate substantial recreational vehicles and support a more controlled paint environment.
Work can include localised panel refinishing, larger resprays, repaired fibreglass sections, composite panels and replacement cladding.
Decals, striping and graphics can also be reinstated where required so the repaired area fits with the rest of the fleet presentation.
Where a vehicle is being prepared for sale, transfer or return to the manufacturer, refinishing work can be included as part of a broader refurbishment plan.
Minor Damage and Pre-Hire Repairs
Small scratches, dents, paint marks, cracked mouldings and localised cosmetic damage can accumulate through frequent vehicle use. Left unattended, these issues can affect presentation, customer reviews and the resale value of the asset.
Minor repairs may be suitable for direct approval without an insurance claim, particularly where the fleet operator has already recovered an excess or damage charge from the hirer.
RnR Refinish can assess whether the work is suitable for a localised repair or whether the damage extends into the panel, structure or sealing system.
Where practical, multiple minor repairs can be grouped while the vehicle is already off the road. This may allow the fleet operator to address several presentation issues during one workshop visit rather than creating separate periods of downtime.

Communication That Supports Fleet Decisions
They need to understand whether the assessment is complete, whether insurer authority has been received, whether parts are available and whether additional damage has changed the expected repair schedule.
RnR Refinish provides updates at meaningful stages so the fleet contact can make decisions about bookings, replacement vehicles and customer communication.
For larger repairs, updates may include progress photographs, repair-stage information and notice of issues that could affect completion.
The purpose is not to create unnecessary administration. It is to give the fleet company useful information without requiring staff to repeatedly chase the workshop.
A consistent communication process becomes even more valuable when several fleet vehicles are being managed over time.
Fleet Repair Experience in Practice
The owner contacted RnR Refinish and uploaded photographs through our estimating system. A repair estimate was prepared, collection was arranged and the caravan completed a documented check-in that included photographs, lighting checks and leak detection.
After the insurer reviewed the repair method and approved the work, the job progressed through dismantling, body repair, paint preparation, refinishing, reassembly, detailing, water testing and decal replacement.
Progress photographs and calls kept the owner informed. A video handover was completed before the caravan was returned.
In that particular case, the vehicle was back on the road within three weeks of the first contact.
The same commercial principle applies across motorhome and campervan fleets. Repair time affects bookings and revenue, but the asset still needs to be repaired, tested and presented to the standard expected by the next hirer.
Every repair is different. Timeframes depend on insurer authority, damage severity, parts availability and hidden damage.
Why Fleet and Hire Companies Trust RnR Refinish
Our purpose-built Clontarf facility can accommodate large motorhomes, campervans and caravans, including vehicles requiring tow-in transport, extensive dismantling, structural repairs, fibreglass work, spray painting and detailed reassembly.
Complex jobs may involve estimators, fibreglass technicians, panel repairers, spray painters, fabricators, cabinet makers, auto electricians, plumbers and mechanical technicians.
Bringing these capabilities together reduces the need to send the vehicle between several unrelated workshops.
Fleet operators also need consistency. The next hire customer should not be able to identify where a repair was rushed or poorly matched. Final checks are therefore selected according to the work completed and may cover finish, sealing, alignment, electrical components, fitted equipment and road operation.
Most importantly, we understand that a long-term fleet relationship is built on more than one repair.
It depends on reliable communication, clear responsibility, consistent workmanship and a shared understanding that every day off the road has a commercial cost.
